Loo. Water Closet, the Dunny, the Bathroom.... the Sh*tter.
This room is actually pretty special to me.
I know... I know - how stupid, right - it's where you poop, how special can it be?! It's green. Very green. The tub is the original cast-iron tub - that thing ALWAYS comes clean... it's really rather amazing. It has this really lovely/indie/so-ugly-its-cool formica paneling with this pretty green leafy pattern. I didn't want to take it down - thinking about the lady before me had chosen it so carefully to match the bathtub... so my brother came up with this really cool (but totally painstaking) idea to "stripe" the walls in a light green and a darker green. It was AMAZING. Here was my little brother taping and re-taping and taping again the "stripes" so that he could paint my paneling in the bathroom to match the formica pattern and the tub. You see, this was the last summer my brother a "civilian" - and he should have been out with his friends, but instead, he was building closet shelves, laying tiles, sanding, painting and putting vintage stripes in my bathroom. This house, was built with love. :) I chose to go with retro printed metal signs. One of the signs is for Scotts Roses - and Millie LOVED Roses and one of the sons who grew up in the house was named Scott - so I thought that that worked well. I can leave the signs for the next owner if they don't intend to change the bathroom. They kind of tie together the retro feel of the bathroom well. There are also some matching enamel pieces - one in the hallway and two in the bathroom that match the vintage theme, and I will leave those as well. There is a large cabinet installed above the toilet. The toilet is a super fancy Kohler toilet.... and my Dad just bought a brand new, super fancy "whisper lid" toilet seat for the new owner! :) |
