A place to eat... a place to make your house a home!
La KitchenThis kitchen was a bit too 70s for my taste.... so we went a bit retro adding the black and white tile floor, and the glass "wall" above the kitchen sink. I also decided to "put a bird on it" hipster style and we used aluminium ceilnig tiles for a new back splash. It looks pretty cool.
Large cupboards line the walls and there's the sweetest, cherry red lazy Susan in the corner under the window that faces the driveway. There's a sweet wee desk area with drawers, too. The windows have a black and white French Twill theme which I carried through under the desk and over the pots and pans cupboard (though I have the doors if you want them to go back on.) Behind the sink area, and next to the back door, are the Kenmore 80 Series Washer and Dryer units which were purchased new in 2005 from Sears. They are were rated decently "efficient" and are the large copacity - so they hold up to 16 regular size bath towels. Each has been repaired and maintnanced a few times over the years - last year the dryer got a new thermostat and motor. :) These appliances stay. There is also a new cooker, purchased in 2006 from Standar TV & Appliance. It is a GE electric stove with a wonderful self cleaning feature and some other cool bits and pieces like enamel burner tops that can be cleaned in the oven when you turn on the self cleaner. You can buy new burner covers from this great little, locally owned appliance parts store on Hall Blvd, in Beaverton. (You also buy the water filters for the fridge there as well.) The Maytag Quiet Series dishwasher was also purchased new from Standard TV & Appliance in ..... 2006? Because of it's proximity to the dining area/living area, I wanted it SUPER quiet... and it totally is! It also had a "garbage disposal" feature in it - because the sink does NOT have a disposal. :) The counters were raised a bit and we did the tile work in 2005, it's held up wonderfully. |
