The Girls' Room......
This is, by far, my most favorite room in the whole house.
It's not that I loved my son any less, or adore my daughter that much more.... believe when I tell you I went through seven shades of blue before I found the "right one" for his room... lol But, there was something truly magical about putting my daughter's room together. I had thought about most every detail since before I even had her.... I found the perfect 1950s metal kitchen set, a formica child's tea table, I added this amazing mirror on the wall that looked like something out of a Disney tale.... simply perfect for my princess. :) (sorry, the kitchen, mirror and table don't stay! :) Her room is extra cool for a few reasons - one of which is her "walk-in" closet. It has two "shirt rails" and one dress rail and 6 shelves with two long full size shelves. My brother built it and installed it for me before we went to Officer Canidate School for the Navy. I love that closet, like any girl would..... The space where a traditional closet used to be - is the PERFECT size to host a twin bed.... which leaves the ENTIRE room to be a wonderful play space for kids. I always had visions of building a loft bed with flowy curtains there.... guess that won't happen now. lol Her room also has shelves which line two walls - this was to display my old Shirley Temple Doll collection which had lined the ceiling of my room when I was a little girl. There are some extra shelves that I didn't hang but still had, and I will leave those behind for the next owner. The shelves came from IKEA and they currently still them if you want more to match. The side window opens to a large Azalea bush AND in the early summer - these wonderful HUGE white calla lillies. :) See... I told you it was a perfect room. |
